There might be World Cup kicking off but it’s Chieftain’s Cup fever that has Lewis & Harris in its grip as Camanachd Leòdhais face our first ever national semi-final this Saturday. If you wish to book a place on the bus please contact the club via social media.
We face old friends and rivals Lochcarron on neutral ground at Glen Urquhart’s Blairbeg Park in Drumnadrochit, just along the road from the favourably named village of Lewiston. The match throws up at 1pm and we hope that there will be a big crowd to support us as we try and reach the final on Saturday 18th July.
This will be our senior side’s first ever visit to Drum, but our youth teams have been frequent visitors to Loch Ness for tournaments over the years. Glen Urquhart won the Craig Morrison Sixes in 2017 and a number of Glen players have links to Lewis.
Of course, the connections with Lochcarron go back throughout the history of shinty in Lewis, even before the 1990s revival so it is apt that they are our opponents for what is sure to be a match up for the ages.
