Goalkeepers usually like to avoid hat-tricks, but it was a happy one for indomitable keeper Connor Chalmers as he lifted three awards at our annual prizegiving.
Connor is one of the players who came through Stornoway Primary alongside Michael Macleod and Paddy Sinclair, and has played a lot of his career up front but Chalmers has settled into life as keeper very well and provides a solid base for the club at the back.
He was voted Club Player of the Year, and also received the Shaw Caman for Manager’s Player of the Year from outgoing manager Duncan MacIntyre. It was also probably appropriate that outgoing assistant manager Andrew MacAskill was able to complete the hat-trick for Chalmers with his now traditional Iron Man award for players who play in every competitive fixture.
Ryan Gunn was the recipient of the Captain’s Player of the Year from 2025 captain Scott MacLeod. The Lochaber native has been an important player as the club has established itself as strong contenders in North Division Two.
Blue Sawyer was the recipient of the Junior Player of the Year Award, and whilst the Women’s Player of the Year award remains in abeyance, Lucy MacLeod introduced the Spirit of Shinty Award which was award to Charlie Main.
With the Craig Morrison Sixes earlier in the day, Dylan Murray was named player of the tournament.
Finally, the John Devine Dedication Award went jointly to club legends Paul Duke and Donald Lamont in recognition of their longstanding dedication to the club at the end of their retirement season.
