The first cup draws for 2026 have been confirmed. The Dubh is Gorm were granted byes in the first rounds of the Strathdearn and the Chieftain’s, but have been given some very intriguing matchups in the second rounds.

In the Strathdearn Cup, Lewis will host the winners of Fort William and Lochaber in the second round on the 30th of May. Fort William seconds are the current holders of the Strathdearn, but their neighbours from Spean are a strong reserve outfit as well. This would be a first cup match against Lochaber, who have been regular league opposition over the years, whilst Lewis have faced the Fort three times, all in the Strathdearn. We suffered two heavy defeats “at home” in Inverlael against the Fort in the pre-league days, but pushed An Gearasdan all the way in 2023’s quarter-final, ending 3-3 before a controversial 3-2 penalty shoot out defeat.

In the Chieftain’s Cup, we finally face someone who isn’t Glengarry! With a trip to Edinburgh to face Tayforth on the 23rd of May. The reward for the winner of this fixture will be a semi-final clash against the winner of Lochcarron v English Shinty Association. There are links with Tayforth with Sean MacLeod having turned out for the club during his time down south, and former Lewis goalie Euan Gilmour also being a regular for the Edinburgh side over the years.
