Diane Morrison

August 26th, 2013 No comments

An-diugh, tha sinn a’ cuimhneachadh air ar caraid bòidheach Diane Mhoireasdan a chaidh a toirt bhuainn gu grad air an latha seo an-uiridh. Tè uasal, laghach a bha an-còmhnaidh air cliathaich na pàirce a’ cur taic ri Camanachd Leòdhais. Chaidh urram a thoirt dhi gu foirmeil le mionaid de thost ron ghèam chairdeil an aghaidh an Eilein Sgitheanaich anns a’ Ghearran. Tha ar smuaintean agus ar n-urnaighean gan cur as leth an teaghlaich an-diugh agus as leth an fheadhainn ud a bhios a’ cluich ann an dubh is gorm agus a bha nan caraidean bun na h-ursainne dhi, gu h-àraidh na bràithrean MhicLaomainn.

Gus am bris an là agus an teich na sgàilean.

Today we remember our beautiful friend Diane Morrison who was taken from us suddenly on this day last year. A kind and caring young lady who was always at the edge of the park supporting Camanachd Leòdhais. Respects were paid formally with a minute silence before the friendly match with Skye Camanachd in February. Our thoughts and prayers are given for her family today and also those who play in the Dubh is Gorm and were her childhood friends, especially the Lamont brothers. Gus am bris an là.

Scott MacLeod called up to Skye Wester Ross U-14s this Weekend

August 22nd, 2013 No comments

Congratulations to Scott MacLeod on being selected for the Skye & Wester Ross Select this year for the North Trials at Spean Bridge this Sunday 25th August. The action starts at 12 noon at Lochaber Camanachd’s Park and the competition is sponsored by Ferguson Transport. The best players will be picked from SWR and the other three teams Badenoch, Lochaber and Inverness for the North v South game at the end of September.

Scott is a tough tackling player with good skill in the mould of his brother Michael who is a regular starter for the Lewis first team. Scott was an enthusiastic participant at the Shinty Summer Camp and a strong performer at the Far North Sixes.

Scott follows in the footsteps of Paddy Sinclair, who represented SWR at Under 17 level last year, and hopefully there will be many more Leòdhasachs at this level come next year.

Congratulations also to Kinlochbervie’s Fraser MacDonald. KLB are included with the Badenoch squad. It is great that players from the peripheral areas are included in select squads and this will really help the standard in the home areas.

The full Skye and Wester Ross Under14 Squad is as follows:

1 Jamie Smith, Kinlochshiel

2 Morgan Fraser, Kinlochshiel

3 Chris Townend, Kinlochshiel

4 Duncan Campbell, Kinlochshiel

5 Fergus Dobson, Kinlochshiel

6 Lewis Macvicar, Kinlochshiel

7 James Pringle, Skye Camanachd

8 Connor Ross, Skye Camanachd

9 Anna Macdonald, Skye Camanachd

10 Ruaraidh Macleod, Skye Camanachd

11 John Macinnes, Skye Camanachd

12 Marcus Ross, Skye Camanachd

14 Mathew Young, Lochcarron

15 Chris Gunn, Lochcarron

16 Iain Arnott, Lochcarron

17 Scott Macleod, Lewis Camanachd

Coaches: John Macleod & Ross Macmillan

Lads take a point away from Caberfeidh

August 18th, 2013 No comments

After last week’s poor show against Strathspey, we got a well deserved point away to Cabers with a 2-2 draw. A 13th goal of the season from Duncan and a first ever Lewis senior goal for Ally Lamont meant we secured our first point from Caberfeidh. As always we would like to pay tribute to the fantastically friendly Cabers folk, tough opponents but genuine shinty people who always make us welcome.

Next game is our final home match versus Lochbroom this Saturday. Throwup 2.30pm at Sgoil Shiaboist.

Update for August

Not much to report other than training continues Tuesday and Thursday as always. There are four more games and these have now all been scheduled. You can find them in the Fixtures Tab.

The last result was a heavy defeat but Lochaber were worthy champions of our division and brought a very strong squad and we wish them luck in the future, both games with them this year have been eye-opening learning experiences which will hopefully stand us in good stead.

The Uist game has now been added to the scoring charts  which gives us two players in double figures for the first time ever! Eoghan will have to buy lots of bottles of whisky at this rate!

Top Scorers

Will, Duncan 12

Jo, Tyson, Scott, Paul, Michael, Seumas, Donald 1
