Camanachd Leòdhais raised the Hebridean Celtic Festival Challenge Cup yet again after a riveting clash with a strong Uist Camanachd side.
Veteran Paul Duke put Lewis into the lead on 12 minutes, but Uist immediately countered via Uist’s Shockie MacLennan, the Skyeman making good use of his marital connections to tog out for na h-Uibhistich.
Uist would then go in the lead with Conal MacDiarmid repeating his feat from 2024. Thankfully Paddy Sinclair brought things level with a rare goal just before half time.
In the second half, the game was tight until Donald Lamont scored with just under quarter of an hour remaining. Lewis kept heads in front until the dying moments, when Uist got a penalty. MacLennan stepped up to level but he failed to convert. Lewis closed out the game to raise the trophy for the 13th time.
Thanks to Isle of Harris Distillery, Sabhal Mòr Ostaig and of course the HebCelt Festival for supporting the island shinty showcase.
Previous to the match there was a successful youth game as well as a well attended women’s come and try.
