After a delayed attempt due to bad weather, the Iomain Challainn was held on 24th January at Smith Avenue.

Continuing this age old tradition, which was revived initially in 1995 by Donna Barden and her late husband Dr Alasdair Barden, and then again before the 2011 season by Sean MacLeod, is a vital link to the past and a great start to the year.

With the squad split into two sides, the match produced a cracking contest.

Lewis A came flying out of the blocks in the first half, with Adam Macdonald firing in a first-half hat-trick and vice-captain Ryan Gunn adding another to give Lewis A a commanding 4–0 lead at the break.

The second half told a very different story. Lewis B raised the intensity and battled their way back into the game, with goals from club veteran Paul Duke, captain Scott Macleod, and Colin McRae, setting up a tense finish.

With Lewis B pushing hard for a late equaliser, Lewis A dug deep and held firm to secure a 4–3 win in an entertaining start to the year. A great way to kick off 2026, and a valuable chance to come together as a squad with the season starting in just over a month’s time.

It was also great to see a few players from our women’s team and some of our youth players taking part. Seeing both the young lads and the women progressing, holding their own, and mixing in so well with the men’s senior squad is a real positive for the club.
