After three very successful seasons, Duncan MacIntyre has announced his decision to step down from the first-team manager role. His achievement of two second places in the league, as well as a sustained title challenge this year have been a real game changer for the club, marked by his receiving North Area coach of the year. Duncan of course was in his second spell as manager, after a frustrating first spell in 2016/17.

Duncan said “I have given this a lot of though & soul searching but came to a decision to stand down as Men’s Senior Team Manager with immediate effect. This has been a difficult one but one I feel is best for the Club, I feel fresh faces & ideas are needed in the Management Role. To every player that has contributed in any way during these three seasons I really couldn’t be more proud of how far you have come, we have shared some great memories & performances along the way. Lewis Camanachd has been a huge part of my Shinty journey… and always will be. Dubh is Gorm”

Joining Duncan in stepping down is Andrew MacAskill, who has been assistant manager for 8 years under Duncan in his second term, and his predecessor John MacAskill.

“It’s been a wild eight years… having taken on the role following a season in which we’d earned a solitary point on the pitch, it now sees me finishing up with us challenging for league titles, all with a global pandemic sandwiched in the middle. To the players, i genuinely believe in my hear of hearts that this is the best club in the world & you are all a massive part of that… Thank you for giving everything you had & for genuinely being really easy to work with. All good things must come to an end & for me, it’s time to hang up the cap. Dubh is gorm!”
