Following the Club’s recent youth development review, the following roles have been identified for the 2017 season as essential to the sport’s future development in the Western Isles.

The draft remits for these roles are below.

Primary Age Co-ordinator (Under 12s) Minimum of Two Positions – May be appointed by area

Ensure the availability of suitable facilities for primary age sessions.

Ensure availability of qualified coaches and first aiders for primary age sessions.

Maintain a positive coaching and playing environment on and off the park. Implement the Positive Coaching Scotland model of best practice. http://www.sportscotland.org.uk/coaching/positive-coaching-scotland/

Assist in arranging club-run shinty festivals on a regular basis throughout the year. Organise at least one trip away for primary level teams to mainland per season.

Liaison with shinty colleagues in Uist a priority for 2017.

Liaise with CNES Active Schools to help run shinty competition at sports festival.

Liaise with and facilitate support for teachers and parents who would like to see shinty provided in their primary school.

Liaise with U14 coaches and manager regarding scheduling, player progress and selection for players in upper primary (P6-7)

Be an active member of the Club’s Youth Committee, assisting with fundraising and securing sponsorship.

CA Foundation Level desirable.

 

Lewis v Uist Causeway

Under 14 Coaches (Two Positions Available)

Lead and facilitate high quality training and coaching for all players eligible for U14.

Maintain a positive coaching and playing environment on and off the park. Implement the Positive Coaching Scotland model of best practice. http://www.sportscotland.org.uk/coaching/positive-coaching-scotland/

Attend U14 games where and whenever possible. In charge of all tactical decisions at all matches attended. Ensure cover in place if unavailable.

Liaise with First Team manager and U14 manager & U17 manager regarding scheduling, player progress and team selection.

Be an active member of the Club’s Youth Committee, assisting with fundraising and securing sponsorship.

Any  other applicable duties pertaining to the Camanachd Leòdhais Under 14 team.

CA Level One Desirable, commitment to passing Level One essential, CA Foundation Level Essential.

 

Under 14 Team Manager

Secure fixtures at home and away for the U14s, with participation in CA sanctioned tournaments a priority for 2017.

Ensure the availability of suitable facilities for U14 sessions and fixtures.

Liaise with First Team manager and U14 coaches & U17 manager regarding scheduling, player progress and team selection.

Liaison with local secondary schools to ensure that competitive opportunities for school teams are exploited.

Facilitate a positive coaching and playing environment on and off the park. Implement the Positive Coaching Scotland model of best practice. http://www.sportscotland.org.uk/coaching/positive-coaching-scotland/

Enforce Camanachd Leòdhais constitution and code of conduct. Ensure good attendance at training by U14 players.

Be an active member of the Club’s Youth Committee, assisting with fundraising and securing sponsorship.

Any  other applicable duties pertaining to the Camanachd Leòdhais Under 14 team.

CA Level One Desirable, CA Foundation Level Essential.

Under 17 Team Manager

Secure fixtures at home and away for the U17s, with participation in CA sanctioned tournaments a possibility in 2017 and a definite target for 2018.

Liaise with First Team manager and U14 coaches & manager regarding scheduling, player progress and team selection.

Liaison with local secondary schools to ensure that competitive opportunities for school teams are exploited.

Maintain a positive coaching and playing environment. Assist in delivery of coaching sessions in association with first team coaches when U17 fixtures are imminent. Implement the Positive Coaching Scotland model of best practice. http://www.sportscotland.org.uk/coaching/positive-coaching-scotland/

Enforce Camanachd Leòdhais constitution and code of conduct. Ensure good attendance at first team training by U17 players.

Player retention will be a major focus of this remit.

Be an active member of the Club’s Youth Committee, assisting with fundraising and securing sponsorship.

Any  other applicable duties pertaining to the Camanachd Leòdhais Under 17 team.

CA Level One preferable, commitment to passing Level One essential

These posts will be confirmed at the upcoming AGM. On confirmation, they will be subject to review at each subsequent AGM. All appointees will hold an up to date PVG from Disclosure Scotland before taking post.
