The club has received support from MP for na h-Eileanan an Iar, Angus Brendan MacNeil on the eve of our big match against Lochbroom.

“It was huge undertaking for Lewis Camanachd to seek and get entry to North Division Three for the 2011 season. While competitive shinty is new to Lewis, the sport has a huge history in the islands, with camanachd being played on the machairs of Lewis long before football.

“Although the team have played a number of games away from home, this will be their first home game on Staurday against Lochbroom in Shawbost, and it will give many in Lewis who are interested in the sport an opportunity to watch competitive shinty being played on the island for the first time.

“I would encourage those with an interest in shinty to make every effort to try and attend the match, and cheer the side on, and prove to the shinty world that competivie shinty in Lewis is here to stay.”
