2020 season cancelled – Club statement

May 30th, 2020 No comments

The Camanachd Association has today announced the cancellation of all current competitions due to be played in 2020. Unfortunately this puts a premature end to our tenth consecutive league campaign as well as the Strathdearn & Sutherland cup competitions.

Whilst disappointing, we recognise that completing these competitions in the current climate was going to be extremely difficult & we appreciate that the Camanachd Association have come forward & provided clarity.

We look forward to getting back to playing shinty whether it be later this year or next.

2020 Draft Fixtures Published

February 2nd, 2020 No comments

The draft fixtures for 2020 have been published by the Camanachd Association.

The club starts its 10th season as a league club with a visit to Boleskine on the 7th of March (where incidentally the club finished its first league season). Then it’s a visit to Strathspey, and then to Inverness before March is completed with a Strathdearn Cup Preliminary Match against Glenurquhart, the first time the clubs will have met in a competitive fixture. The winner will face Inverness in the first round proper.

The rest of the season’s fixtures can be seen here  although other fixtures of note are the first home fixture against Strathglass on the 2nd of May, and the season coming to an end with an away game to Aberdeen on the 15th of August and a home game v Lochaber on 22nd of August.

Fixtures and Results 2019

Camanachd Leòdhais’ fixtures for 2019 have been published by the Camanachd Association. The club will spend March and April travelling to the mainland. The newly rechristened Mowi North Division 2 has mercifully been reduced to 9 teams – which means 16 games. The first away game will be Lochcarron on 2 March, followed by Boleskine.

The first home game will be on 11th May against Kilmallie. Kilmallie is also the final scheduled game for the club in 2019, with an away trip to Canal Parks on the 24th of August.

2018 Fixtures released – Cabers away up first, Spey in homecoming fixture

February 5th, 2018 No comments

The Camanachd Association recently published the 2018 Draft Fixtures and as always, this gives Dubh is Gorm players and supporters plenty to chew upon for the next few months.

To start of our eighth season as a league club, we will face our fellow Ross-shire club and old acquaintances Caberfeidh at Castle Leod on Saturday 3rd March, before another Ross-shire trip to Lochcarron on the tenth. There is then a run of games with Boleskine, Kilmallie and then Strathglass.

The club has only entered one cup this year, the national junior trophy, The Sir William Sutherland Cup and we have been drawn out of the hat against Beauly on the 7th of April. Two challenging away fixtures follow with Lochaber and Lovat in late April.

Old rivals Strathspey are the homecoming visitors this time around on the 12th of May, with Beauly the week after. After a very disappointing number of teams did not travel for league business in 2017, it is hoped that there will be no call-offs in 2018 and that shinty fans in the Western Isles will have a full card of fixtures to enjoy throughout May, June and July. We finish with a flurry of away games before Boleskine are due to come for a home game on August 25.

The league again contains 11 teams.  The full fixture list can be found here.

The North Division Two contains 11 teams this year with Lovat’s relegation and the return of Strathglass Reserves.
