Andrew Henderson of Bettyhill has left Camanachd Leodhais to play for Inverness in 2012.

Andrew previously played for Farr Camanachd and Naver Athletic but with shinty development in the Far North stalled he took the option of contributing to our first season as a league club.

Dukey said “spoke with Andrew Henderson and after some lengthy discussion  agreed that it would be in the best interests of his shinty career to play for another club. This was due to various factors but with his long journeys and as we have a growing pool of players and it would have been difficult for him to gain playing time especially as we have young players coming through who also need time on the park.”

“I’m sure everyone will join me in thanking Andrew for his contributions in our debut season and his dedication to the club in terms of the distance travelled, even if he was late for our first game in Beauly! I can honestly say it was a privilege to have him on our side.”

On making the difficult decision to leave the club where he won the Mod Cup, after having been on the losing side with Sutherland in 2010, Andrew said:

” Its been a pleasure to play for a great team and alongside a great bunch of lads, I look forward to my return to the island this season with Inverness to get the banter with the lads and also looking forward to playing you at the Bught this season!! All the best for the 2012 season!! Slainte mhath!”
