A busy month ahead for the Dubh is Gorm.
This weekend sees the visit of Strathspey in the Strathdearn Cup. This will be Strathspey’s first visit to the island this season after they unfortunately had to forfeit the points at the beginning of the month, so we look forward to welcoming them this time. It is the first ever cup fixture to be held in the Outer Hebrides – another milestone for the people’s club.
We will be sending teams to the Far North Sixes in Scourie on the 7th of June. Lewis won the competition in 2010 and sent a youth team last year. Always a great day and the Kinlochbervie club are a great example of driving the sport forward on the periphery of the support. Great links with schools, community and a willingness to get involved with other clubs, no matter where.
The 14th will see Kilmallie make the league trip to Shawbost. Kilmallie are a great young side and this should be an entertaining game.
The 21st is the Craig Morrison Stornoway Sixes. This is open to all clubs and teams, including veterans teams, women’s teams and selects. Contact Conor Macdonald on 07906247411 or contact the club via its Facebook page or website camanachdleodhais.com.
The 28th at the moment is a free weekend at the moment but we may have Lochbroom that weekend.

A decent day on Saturday saw us grind out a 2-1 win over a brave Inverness team. Thanks to Peter Gow, Kenny Loades et al for travelling over. We can only be glad to say Andrew Henderson has stopped his goalscoring run against us, but always good to see an ex-player (and winner of the Mod Cup against Uist) come visit. We are really trying to amp up the activity on the club’s Facebook page – if you haven’t liked it, or know somebody who hasn’t, please do like it and tell others.
The above tweet says it all, it wasn’t pretty in the atmosphere or on the park Saturday, but we can only regroup for this Saturday and Inverness. Usual time, usual place but forecast is good so please come along, your support means a lot to the players and management.
Apart from Duncan’s opener, one of the few highlights was the management’s faith in youth with the debut of Ruairidh MacMillan, only in 3rd year, who made a strong impression when he came on. Hopefully we will see many more Nicolson Institute players coming along to training on Tuesdays and Thursdays now as we build for the future.
Training as usual this week.

We welcome Caberfeidh as the belated first visitors to Shawbost this season this Saturday. Ross-shire derbies are exciting affairs and games between the two sides are always close.
Throwup is at 2.30pm. Please come along and support the club in their first outing this year, a big support on the sideline makes a big difference.
Players should check Facebook for information regarding travel to Shawbost.
The Craig Morrison Stornoway Sixes 2014
The Craig Morrison Stornoway Sixes will be held in Stornoway on Saturday 21 June and Camanachd Leòdhais would like to invite entries for this year’s competition.
The competition is open to all clubs and select sides. The competition has previously seen entries from Skye, Lochcarron, Uist, Kincraig and Achmore as well has having local teams from Lewis & Harris compete. Stornoway in June is a great night out as well and with ferry travel on the Sunday several teams have taken advantage of great Hebridean hospitality. Day travel is possible via the Skye-Harris ferry.
Craig Morrison died tragically at the age of 20 in July 2009 and the Craig Morrison Sixes has grown into a fitting tribute to a dedicated and passionate shinty player, the trophy being provided by his team mates in his memory.
